Editorial Reviews:

On 20 December 1999, the longest-running chapter in Macao's history will close. After over 450 years of administration, Portugal will hand over one of the oldest colonies the world has ever known to China. This book commemorates this vital juncture in Macao's history through interviews with thirty people, representing most of Macao's unique mixture of races, creeds, classes, and traditions.

Summary: Good, but not as good as China Remembers
Comment: Macau is a very interesting and unique place due to its history and location. It is very small and very few Portuguese people were living there in 1999, the year of the handover. There is apparently a group of Eurasians called Macanese who live there and I figured they would have some interesting family histories. I just expected this book to have more interesting and exotic stories than it did. I read what I thought to be the more interesting ones in the bookstore and I bought China Remembers to take home with me.
